Q: How much time do the assessments take?
A: This can vary depending on the type of assessment being conducted. For a basic psychological assessment it can take two or three hours, for an achievement, giftedness, or learning disorder assessment it can take longer; 4 or 5 hours. For a thorough Neuropsychological assessment, it can take 6 or more hours. Dr. Bingman can give you a better estimate of time during the intake session when she can pinpoint the type of assessment needed.
Q: When I come to see Dr. Bingman for the first time what can I expect?
A: For Assessments: during the initial evaluation sessions Dr. Bingman will conduct a thorough intake, gathering a complete history and determining the type of service needed. After the evaluation is completed, we will set up the testing sessions (as it might take longer than one session). Dr. Bingman accommodates the individual for all of the necessary time needed to get accurate results and which allows the individual to perform at his or her best.
Q: Is neuropsychological/psychological assessment covered by insurance?
A: It depends. Some assessments can be partially covered by insurance. Many are not covered. Contact your insurance company or refer to your policy to determine if neuropsychological or psychological assessments are mostly/partially covered by your policy.
Q: Does Dr. Bingman take insurance?
A: Dr. Bingman accepts Medicare. For all other insurances, Dr. Bingman is considered an out-of-network provider by insurance companies. Depending on the plan and deductible, reimbursement from your insurance company for assessment and treatment services may be available. Dr. Bingman will assist you in the process of filing the paperwork with your insurer for any possible reimbursement. Please check with your insurer if you would like to verify out-of-network benefits or reimbursement rates. Dr. Bingman will do her best to maximize her patient’s reimbursement by providing an invoice including all pertinent information and appropriate code(s).
